MEDIA STATEMENT – OVERSIGHT VISIT TO GRABOUW COURT HIGHLIGHTS COMMITMENT TO LAW ENFORCEMENT
Coalition Councillors, the Municipal Manager, and other municipal officials conducted an oversight visit to the Grabouw Municipal Court last week.
Since becoming fully operational earlier this month, the court has been staffed with a Magistrate and Prosecutor, and it has already handled hundreds of cases.
The busy court roll underscores the Municipality’s commitment to upholding the law and should serve as a strong warning to both motorists and residents.
Municipal Manager, Wilfred Solomons-Johannes, commented on the importance of the court’s operations.
“The establishment and operation of the Grabouw Municipal Court are crucial steps in our ongoing efforts to maintain law and order in the community. This court will ensure that justice is served promptly and effectively,” he said.
Law Enforcement officers and the court will work collaboratively to ensure that all by-laws are strictly enforced.
While traffic infringements remain a top priority, the Municipality will also be addressing other by-law violations, including continuous noise complaints, building regulations, land invasions, and animal-related issues.
Councillors have been encouraged to share a list of by-law infringements with community structures to raise awareness and prevent violations.
“It is essential that residents understand the laws that govern our communities,” he added.
