LEARNERS HONOURED FOR DRAWING COMPETITION TO CREATE AWARENESS AROUND WORLD WETLANDS DAY

On the 2nd of February Town offices across Theewaterskloof hosted wetlands clean-up projects to commemorate World Wetlands Day.

In addition to these outdoor projects, our libraries and Environment and Disaster Management department invited schools in the Caledon area to take part in a colouring competition.

The competition aimed to spread awareness in schools about the importance of preserving and taking care of this important and diverse part of the ecosystem.

Today our Environment and Disaster Management department handed over prizes to the learners of the top 5 drawings, that will have a place of honour in the municipal manager’s office.

They also handed over goodie bags to the top 20 participants from Swartberg Primary School as well as materials and posters that will be used in the classrooms to help educate the learners on the wetlands and the critical job they play in protecting the well-being of our environment for generations to come.

Most of these wonderful posters will be displayed in our libraries, so do look out for them the next time you visit our libraries.
