Free Grading Promotion, set for February 2025

Tourism 2025

Tourism Grading Council of South Africa (TGCSA) offers Free Grading Promotion, set for February 2025, in preparation for the 2025 G20 Summit. This initiative, led by TGCSA, aims to onboard ungraded properties into the grading system, significantly boosting the number of high-quality, internationally recognized establishments in South Africa.

As the G20 Summit draws near, showcasing world-class accommodation is essential. With thousands of global leaders, delegates, and media attending, ensuring a strong portfolio of graded properties is crucial to positioning South Africa as a premier tourism destination.

Eligibility Criteria:

This promotion targets new and lapsed properties—those that have never been graded or whose previous grading expired before February 2022. Eligible establishments will receive free grading if they meet the required statutory and grading criteria. Establishments will be required to submit their applications for grading through the TGCSA website (www.tourismgrading.co.za) in order to be considered for inclusion in the promotion. Their grading membership will be valid for a period of one (1) year.

Application Process:

Prospective members will need to possess the following statutory requirements to be eligible for grading and this promotion:

  • Registration as a business with the provincial authority and/or municipality;
  • Public liability insurance;
  • Compliance with local authority regulations (municipal by-laws, zoning, etc);
  • Health and safety certificate (fire and building regulations); and
  • Liquor license (where applicable);

Why Grading Matters for G20:

The 2025 G20 Summit presents a unique opportunity for South Africa to shine on the global stage. The influx of international visitors demands a robust and quality-assured accommodation offering, which can only be guaranteed through the TGCSA grading system.

Grading will help:

  • Ensure World-Class Standards: Graded properties guarantee quality, comfort, and service for G20 delegates and visitors.
  • Enhance Global Perception: A larger pool of graded establishments positions South Africa as a top-tier tourism destination.
  • Meet G20 Demand: With high visitor numbers expected, it’s vital to have enough graded properties to accommodate international guests.
