Theewaterskloof is proud to congratulate our remarkable Matric Class of 2023, who have excelled in the NSC matric examinations.

Mayor Mary Liebenberg on Friday said it was with immense pride and joy that she extends her warmest congratulations to every one of the matriculants on this momentous occasion.

“As Mayor of Theewaterskloof Municipality, I am truly inspired by the exceptional achievements of the matrics from Theewaterskloof and the surrounding Overberg area,” she said.

Overberg High School in Caledon received the top honour as best performing high school in the Overberg region with an impressive 100% pass rate.

Followed by De Rust Futura Academy (Grabouw) with a pass rate of 98.6%, De Villiers Graaff High School (Villiersdorp) with a pass rate of 94.9%, Grabouw High School with a pass rate of 92.2% and Groenberg Secondary School (Grabouw) with a pass rate of 90.8%.

Swartberg Secondary School in Caledon had a 13.5% improvement with a 87.2% pass rate, while Emil Weder High School in Genadendal achieved a pass rate of 83.3%. Umyezo Wama Apile High School in Grabouw had a 19% increase with a 81.8% pass rate, while Villiersdorp Secondary School received a 81.5% pass rate and Riviersonderend High School 60%.

“To those who have excelled, your dedication and hard work have not gone unnoticed. This is a significant milestone, and I encourage you to continue pursuing excellence as you embark on your future endeavours. Theewaterskoof Municipality is privileged to have such bright and talented individuals shaping our community’s future,” said Mayor Mary Liebenberg.

“For those who may not have achieved the results you anticipated, please understand that this is just one chapter in your life journey. Challenges are a natural part of the path to success. Embrace the lessons, seek guidance, and let this be a source of motivation to rise above obstacles,” she continued.

“As you step into the next phase of your lives, remember that the future is filled with endless possibilities. Each of you possesses unique talents and potential, and I am confident that you will contribute positively to Theewaterskloof and beyond.”

Municipal Manager Wilfred Solomons -Johannes echoed the mayor’s message to the Matric Class of 2023 and congratulated each learner that passed Grade 12.

“On behalf of Theewaterskloof Municipality, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to each of you. Your hard work, dedication, and resilience have brought you to this moment of success. As you move on, remember that the skills and knowledge you’ve gained will be powerful tools for the future,” he said.

“May your journey beyond Grade 12 be filled with continued success, growth, and fulfillment. Theewaterskloof Municipality takes pride in your accomplishments, and we look forward to witnessing the positive impact you will undoubtedly make in our communities.”
