TWO SUSPECTS ARRESTED FOR ARSON IN VILLIERSDORP

19 February 2024

Theewaterskloof Municipality is deeply concerned about recent incidents of arson at the transfer station in Villiersdorp. On Sunday 18 February, two suspects were apprehended in connection with these destructive acts.

The suspects, whose identities will be withheld until their court appearance on 20 February, are facing charges of arson. The Municipality condemns these reckless actions in the strongest terms possible.

Acts of vandalism and arson not only pose a serious threat to public safety but also result in significant damage to public property and infrastructure. Such behaviour undermines the well-being of our community and will not be tolerated.

The Municipality is committed to working closely with law-enforcement agencies to ensure that those responsible for these crimes are fully held accountable in the eyes of the law. We urge anyone with information regarding these incidents to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.

Furthermore, we want to call upon all residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities immediately. Together, we can safeguard our community and prevent further acts of vandalism and arson.
