In my capacity as the Municipal Manager, appointed in accordance with Local Government: Municipal Structures Act (Act 117 of 1998) to comply with Part 7 of the Act that the municipal council must appoint a municipal manager who “is the head of administration and also the accounting officer for the municipality…”; as well as Chapter 5: Functions and Powers of Municipalities of the Act clause 83 (1).
My Office enhances relationships between the political and administrative centres of the council. My office promotes functional communication and client care and administers the internal audit function.
Providing service in an integrated manner
I am the Head of Administration that consists of Directorates for:
Theewaterskloof municipality provides services through decentralised town administrations in Grabouw, Caledon, Villiersdorp, Botrivier, Greyton/Genadendal-and-area, Tesselaarsdal and Riviersonderend.
Services are provided by a functional personnel structure, an effective and competent corporate function and decentralised town offices; which take service delivery and public inputs to grassroots levels.
The focus on Local Economic Development (LED) created an environment conducive for economic development. LED paved the way for significant investments and developments in the municipal area during the second and third terms of the municipality.
The municipality succeeded to draft annual budgets and IDP’s with extensive planning and public participative processes.
The municipality succeeded to accelerate infrastructure development and service delivery.
The municipality also succeeded to improve Municipal Sustainability in terms of the criteria of Ratings Afrika.
