We advise residents to stay indoors, but if you must travel, there is an alternative gravel route, which at this stage is safe to travel. But, weather conditions are unpredictable and could unexpectedly change.
For motorists who want to travel from Caledon to either Villiersdorp, Worcester or the N1 and vice versa, there is a detour gravel road that is in a drivable condition.
If you are coming from Caledon on your right there is a turnoff at Draaiberg Road. This road takes you to the R321 just passed the Theewaterskloof Dam. Motorist will be able to link up with the R43 to go to Villiersdorp, Worcester or the N1. From Villiersdorp, motorists can take the turnoff on the left just after the Theewaterskloof Dam and take Draaiberg Road to get to the other side of the R43.

Nag Wag bridge between Bredarsdorp and Arniston.
