Current road closures in and around the Theewaterskloof Municipal area

We advise residents to stay indoors, but if you must travel, there is an alternative gravel route, which at this stage is safe to travel. But, weather conditions are unpredictable and could unexpectedly change.

For motorists who want to travel from Caledon to either Villiersdorp, Worcester or the N1 and vice versa, there is a detour gravel road that is in a drivable condition.

If you are coming from Caledon on your right there is a turnoff at Draaiberg Road. This road takes you to the R321 just passed the Theewaterskloof Dam. Motorist will be able to link up with the R43 to go to Villiersdorp, Worcester or the N1. From Villiersdorp, motorists can take the turnoff on the left just after the Theewaterskloof Dam and take Draaiberg Road to get to the other side of the R43.

Sir Lowry’s Pass

Botriver bridge on the N2 has completely washed away.

R43 direction Villiersdorp

R321 between Grabouw and Villiersdorp

R320 Hemel and Aarde Road

The road between Stanford and Hermanus

R44 Clarence Drive

R45 Franschhoek Pass

Low water bridge across the Buffelsjag Rivier close to Swellendam. The road between the N2 and Villiersdorp (Dennehof Golf Course)

Nag Wag bridge between Bredarsdorp and Arniston.
